Ruby Sandars Honored with Silver Pear Award

The Pearland Leadership Foundation introduced a new honor at this year’s State of Leadership Luncheon: the Silver Pear Award.

Designed to recognize graduates of Leadership Pearland who continue to invest deeply in the community, the award focuses less on titles and more on long‑term engagement, service, and impact.

In presenting the inaugural Silver Pear, the foundation highlighted a leader whose record stretches across education, civic organizations, faith communities, youth programs, and volunteer service. They described the recipient as someone who consistently says yes when Pearland needs help, embodying exactly the kind of sustained, local leadership the program hopes to cultivate.

The first Silver Pear Award went to Ruby Sandars, honored for decades of leadership, service, and commitment to Pearland. In brief remarks, Sanders downplayed the spotlight and framed her involvement as simply part of being a member of the community, emphasizing the importance of giving back wherever you live and continuing to learn and lead over time.
