Eagles Fight Off Longhorns 21-7 to Stay in Playoff Hunt

The Pearland Dawson Eagles traveled to Veterans Stadium on Thursday night for a pivotal District 19 matchup against the Dobie Longhorns, with playoff implications on the line. On a breezy evening, the Eagles relied on a strong defensive effort and timely offensive plays to secure a 21-7 victory and strengthen their postseason hopes.

The first half was a defensive slugfest, with both teams struggling to find their footing offensively. However, with less than a minute remaining before halftime, senior tight end Braxton Colvin came down with a back-shoulder touchdown catch in the end zone, giving Dawson the lead heading into the break.

Midway through the third quarter, sophomore running back Gavin Roberson powered his way through the middle of the defense and into the end zone, extending the Eagles’ advantage and giving Dawson some breathing room.

Sophomore quarterback Aiden Raglin provided the finishing touch with a designed quarterback run to the outside, finding the end zone and helping seal the Eagles’ 21-7 victory.

With the win, Dawson puts itself in the driver’s seat for the final remaining playoff spot in District 19, keeping its postseason hopes alive as the regular season winds down.

The Eagles will have a bye week next week before returning to the field for the final stretch of the regular season, with a playoff berth within reach.
