Cop Stop, in Pearland, has served the public safety community for more than two decades, providing uniforms, duty gear, body armor, footwear, firearms and other equipment for the people who serve and protect the region. The business recently moved to 7311 Fite Road, creating more room for its operations, its customers, and future community gatherings.
Owner Rick Fernandez founded Cop Stop in May 2003 after beginning his career in public safety. A Pearland native, Fernandez joined the volunteer fire department at age 18 after graduating from Pearland High School. He later completed the police academy, began his law enforcement career in Surfside and returned to serve with the Pearland Police Department.
During his years in law enforcement, Fernandez saw a need for a public safety equipment business built around personal service and an understanding of the professionals it serves. He spent more than two years developing the plan for Cop Stop before opening the business. Ultimately, leaving law enforcement to run it full time after three years.

More Than Retail
In addition to its retail operation, Cop Stop includes account representatives who support agencies across the country, assisting them directly. Their custom shop provides sewing, embroidery and heat press services for uniforms, department gear and corporate apparel.
For agency orders, the Cop Stop team prepares items for individual officers, including labeling and finishing work before shipment.
Businesses can also use the custom shop for branded apparel, including embroidered polos and other team clothing.
Their goal is to make the ordering process easier for organizations and individuals who need their equipment to arrive ready for use.
Service as a Priority
Fernandez has built the company around his belief that every customer should receive the same level of attention, whether they are purchasing one small accessory, or placing a large department order. The store’s staff helps customers locate products, understand options and identify what best fits their needs.
A New Home on Fite Road
For more than 20 years, Cop Stop operated from a leased location on Broadway. As the business grew, Fernandez looked for an opportunity to purchase his own property and design a new space to better meet the needs of his customers and the broader community.
The move to 7311 Fite Road gives Cop Stop room to grow. Fernandez plans to eventually develop a larger second facility on the property and bring additional operations currently housed elsewhere to the site.
The new location also allows Cop Stop to create space for gatherings that connect public safety leaders with the community. One of the first events hosted at the property was a Pearland Chamber of Commerce meet-and-greet with Pearland’s new police and fire chiefs.
Visitors are invited to come out and explore the new location, meet the team, and learn more about the products and services available to support public safety professionals, organizations and the broader Pearland community.
