One of the notable things about last night’s meet and greet was the beautifully custom designed lapel pin given to each of our newly elected officials by The Pearland Chamber of Commerce.
The card it came on explained its significance:
This pin was specially designed to be worn as a symbol of pride and service to our great nation, state, county, and city. Starting with Old Glory, the United States flag has been flown throughout history in times of great triumph and sorrow. Its colors of red for valor, white for liberty, and blue for justice waving high above representing what it is to be an American.
Moving onto the Great State of Texas. The Lone Star State… one state under God, one and indivisible. With a long rich history of strength and independence, it will forever remain a symbol of pride.
Lastly, a pear placed inside of Texas to represent our beloved City of Pearland. From humble beginnings in the 1800’s with a railroad switch and fruit fields to the thriving metropolis it is today, Pearland remains a place of community, opportunity, and prosperity.
